Source of Funds Questionnaire Now Available

Thirdfort is the latest in Lawyer Checker's innovative suite of products helping to defend law firms against the persistent threats lurking in the legal sector, by providing enhanced due diligence around source of funds and ID checks.

Thirdfort have recently announced the launch of the ‘Source of Funds Questionnaire’ feature, which complements the ID verification and bank linking features. This means your client can now complete a source of funds questionnaire via the Thirdfort app. It only takes a few minutes to complete, removes the need for any paperwork and is designed to deal with all types of fund sources.

The source of funds questionnaire includes information on:

  • Sale of a previous property
  • Salary
  • Savings
  • Divorce Settlements
  • Inheritance
  • Mortgage
  • Other additional income (such as rental property)

Once the client has filled in the questionnaire, and signed it electronically, a Source of Funds report will then be generated. This report is in addition to the Identity report which details the ID verification and bank statements.

On the report, it will set out the next steps solicitors should take to ensure the client’s source of funds is correct. These steps include:

  • Checking bank statements (salary, rental property income)
  • Asking the client for proof of funds (for example a divorce settlement, house sale or new mortgage)

This transparent way of working enables you to conduct your due diligence and thoroughly document the audit trail, so if you’re ever asked to show how you conducted business by a regulator, your steps are thoroughly demonstrated.

Thirdfort combines facial recognition technology and document verification into a mobile phone app, to enable you to verify your client ID and source of funds
