We retain your contact details whilst you are a client, have expressed interest in our services and for 3 years since your last interaction with us for future Lawyer Checker services.

We have written arrangements with companies who use our services which state that they will assume responsibility for notifying their employees of the nature of the processing and the rights they have in that regard.

We therefore do not provide a notification ourselves.

If your employer uses our services and you have not received such a notification from your employer, please contact us.

Our lawful basis for processing this data is our legitimate interest for the negotiation of a possible contract of employment with you. The consequences for you if we are unable to process this data would be that we would not be able to consider your application for employment or enter into an employment contract with you.

We process your personal data when visiting the Lawyer Checker website in our legitimate interests to provide the Lawyer Checker website services including our client portal, security and logging purposes. When you contact us or provide consent, we process your contact data in our legitimate interests or by your consent for direct marketing, sales, account management as well as Press, investor and customer service purposes.

Retention

We retain your contact details, if you have expressed interest in our services or have consented to direct marketing from Lawyer Checker, for 3 years since your last interaction with us for future Lawyer Checker services. We retain logging related information for up to 5 years. Website visitor IP addresses may be retained for up to 1 year as part of this.

Lawyer Checker Privacy Notice for Sole Practitioners or LLPs searched by AES service

Each party bears their own respective duties to comply with data protection law, to respond to your rights requests and provide notices relating to data protection and privacy. We process your personal data as a sole practitioner firm or limited liability partnership in our legitimate interests to fulfil our contractual obligations for providing our clients with our Account Entity Screen (‘AES’) service, which is a service aimed at fraud-reduction. The personal data we therefore process are your firm details and bank details, as per the following logic.

When your firm is searched using the AES service our algorithm provides a response through our system either as ‘frequent’, ‘infrequent’ or ‘unknown’. In the case of a ‘frequent’ response, no further checks are done. In cases of an ‘infrequent’ or ‘unknown’ response, human intervention is triggered and further checks are done manually to cross-reference public databases with the information provided by our client to avoid any erroneous or out of date information being passed onto our clients and to provide them with added information to aid in their due diligence processes.

We make the results report available to the respective AES client, and retain it for up to 7 years.
