Wishing everyone some downtime at Christmas

Lawyer Checker is doing its bit to support conveyancers this year in conjunction with LawCare

As we approach the Christmas period, we know from speaking to so many of you the pressure you are currently under.

The hours you are putting in (yes we see the searches coming in at midnight and over the weekend and can only hope this is flexible working!), the expectations and insistence of clients to move, the challenge of missing working with colleagues and office banter.

Without your determination, hard work and teamwork the property market would have ground to a halt months ago.

This way of working can’t be sustained and looking after your mental health and emotional wellbeing is really important. A number of us at Lawyer Checker have seen more than one recession and the pressure it brings and so in the early days of a threatened first lockdown we contacted LawCare to offer our publications Today’s Conveyancer, Today’s Wills and Probate and Today’s Family Lawyer as platforms (free of charge) as vehicles to connect with you and your firms.

This year we're supporting LawCare's "The Big Give Christmas Challenge" and donating this year's Lawyer Checker Christmas sales and marketing budget.

LawCare provide information and support to anyone in the legal community experiencing mental health and wellbeing problems. They work hard to raise awareness, promote understanding and to improve the culture and practice of law.  At Lawyer Checker we share the same passion for taking care of people.

LawCare offer a free, independent and confidential helpline which is open Monday to Friday 0900-1730 and online live chat is available Wednesday 0900-1730.  Their trained staff and volunteers have worked in the law and understand the demands of legal education, training and practice. If you call out of hours you can leave them a message and they will call you straight back as soon as the helpline opens. You can also email them at support@lawcare.org.uk.

Tell your story by taking part in LawCare’s ground-breaking research study Life in the Law and help find out how legal practice and workplace culture affect wellbeing. You can take part anonymously at lifeinthelaw.org.uk  by December 31.

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas break with friends and family.
